I quit my job to pursue PHD, my career was of only 5 months.

    I had two offers for Phd equivalent, and I declined both. Lousy pay, you are at the whim of the prof diva and can't change in-between. Plus that you lose 5 years or so of actual industrial work experience and of a decently paid job.

    @nothappy my dream job would be "billionaire's son", but short of that, I want to do tech shit, be paid well, avoid overtime.

    Phd falls short of all three in reality: you do boring shit like acquiring third party project funding, correcting student's exams, holding tutorials, writing papers, doing only little tech shit, being paid lousily with half a job and doing overtime even relative to a full time job.

    And to top it off: after you have a Phd, you are overqualified for most interesting tech jobs, the only place where Phd matters is the business card, and you have to take a management career. The latter involves even more boring shit and more overtime, and the better payment doesn't cut it.
