Why is typing something in and typing something out the same thing?

Typing something in implies you're filling a text box
Typing something out implies you're copying some text

@j4cobgarby I would say typing something out would be typing a large amount of text like an essay whereas typing something in is small components like customer info

@AlgoRythm maybe it depends on the country
I would usually (and have before) say "type out an essay", but only if I'd previously written the essay on paper, and am now copying it onto the computer
