@astronomicalcat it depends. if u r using cross platform tech then any linux based os or osx will be good. I use fedora and macos

@astronomicalcat it really depends on what you're doing. But I have liked using Genie. I have also liked using the qt IDE, as well as just plain old gedit.
I don't do much Android/Java stuff, so I can't speak to that.
Don't forget that you need access to a Mac in order to build iOS/tvOS apps. -
I like a good hardwood desktop. MDF is acceptable on a budget.
