Question: I'd like to choose a new distro for my surface.

Although I do shitloads of terminal stuff, I'm an eye candy lover. Debian based please :)

I can deal with problems myself if they occur.

Anyone any ideas? (KDE neon/kubuntu/nitrux/mint have already been tried)

Debian-based.. well, Debian I'd say then. Always go with the motherships (Debian, Arch, Fedora, Gentoo etc) if possible. That way you don't have to deal with extra "features" that daughter distributions sometimes put in. As for desktop environment.. whatever you like best really.

Honestly I like Ubuntu Budgie, as you can see from the name it is Ubuntu based, but I found it faster and looks better

@Jilano ++ for Qubes. It looks quite interesting

Pure Debian ftw and the eyecandy is what you set it up to look like. Default terminal can be made so pretty, but Terminator does a lot more. For more eye candy you can run the cool-retro-term if you like.

@Jilano it is made for me pretty much but the extensive virtualization makes that you need some good hardware to properly run it and I don't have great hardware 😥
