Been torrenting for many years by now, but somehow never heard about sonarr. Just got it set up, and holy crap it's amazing!

@ThatDannyBoy sonarr is a piece of software, that scans what shows you already have downloaded, and automatically downloads new episodes when they're available.

The really amazing thing, is that it can easily be set up to rename the files, and automatically put them in the correct folder. It can also be used to easily find better quality episodes, of shows you already have downloaded

Huge fan of sickbeard and sabnzbd+. When sonaar first came out it either didn't support Linux or did as a poorly coded afterthought. Either that or it required you to keep a desktop window open for it to work. For whatever reason, it wasn't an acceptable replacement for sickbeard/sabnzbd for me, yet.

Are you saying it's daemonized now and can be run on a headless Linux instance? If so, I'll need to give it another look.

@bahua without having the complete understanding of 'headless' (yeah haven't looked into it yet😅) it seems like it. It just has a simple webui. Currently just have it set up on windows.

But it seems to be integrated really well into many Linux distros, with it being available in the package manager, and being a plugin for quite a few NAS systems

I don't really like software making decisions based on my actions, unless i wrote it and know exactly what's happening

I know some of that software has decent documentation and open source, but i don't mind doing things myself to save me from going through other ppls code. I do that on work, don't want to do it to watch series

@KasperNS Headless: no gui, no desktop, no display of any kind (physical or otherwise). Only allows remote access, even if you have physical access to it.

For Linux, it's just mono. I will stick to my old daemons. I'm glad it works great for you though.
