Seems like an interesting project, except for one thing.. how is it different from, say, Mastodon, and how is this peer-to-peer thing going to work with transfers from other phones through the internet, without exposing devices to security risks? Servers aren't inherently bad, and they're very useful for clients to connect to because they're always available, have direct internet connections, have proper security in place (at least they should, if it isn't maintained by a shitadmin)…
