"It's very unfortunate that someone has to sit 10 hours a day on a computer screen but that's what we are paying for."
Working with an EU client.
Task is in stages beginning from assessment of an 9 year old Salesforce instance, cleanup and then transition to lightning.
The deliverabale in the first stage is excel sheet - objects(2400+), fields, apps, packages, profiles(110k), users, perm sets, apex classes, triggers, pages, s-controls and insert each and everything that a Salesforce instance could have.
Each and every data needs to be, analyzed and documented with our recommendations before being sent over. (Finding duplicates in 110k profiles??)
Oh, did I tell you, this was to be done four weeks? Weekend goes to hell.
That's when this beautiful motivational line comes up from the bridge, "It's very unfortunate that someone has to sit 10 hours a day on a computer screen but that's what we are paying for."
Fortunately(un?), that part of project is done and over with.

Now comes the clean up, identify packages not being used, remove them, qa and then push for deployment.
Mind you, this project is to be 2 weeks long. Its Friday of the first week today. And I am still working weekends.
Can I say, FML?

Fucking ungrateful monkeys should try sitting in front of screen themselves maybe then they would learn to appreciate. They waited years to do this might as well have added couple weeks in order for devs to fit in normal working hours.

I don't understand salesforce. I had to use it few times as a user to some companies I signed up to. I looked like 90s software embedded in a webpage. The UI was obviously horrible too,not something that should be seen in 2018.

@irene Indeed. The policy here is we get a complimentary off for every non working day we clock in. This leave balance lapses once the project is over. So... Leaves accrued in the first phase were over then and there. Leaves accrued this week will lapse by the end of the project - 18th Oct.
The mess won't let me take a leave.

@irene Well, I am not working tomorrow. Probably spend some time swooping through the labour laws then.

@HoloDreamer What you must have seen I believe might have been the classic Salesforce. Salesforce released it's own js framework - Lightning which boasts of being cross-platform, responsive and mobile-first. The target audience - sales, marketing, after-sales, it gets the job done, very nicely.
With third party applications available on AppExchange(a Salesforce App store), you can add n number of functionalities, predictions, insights, etc etc.
While it's not still perfect, but the ability to customize this particular CRM is still unmatched.
