Had to switch to a MacBook due to my new employer and the layout is driving me crazy!

Almost 20 years I've been typing the @ by altgr+q (German layout).

At the same position is now command.

And command+q closes the current window instantly.

This happened almost 10 times today...

@heyheni I don't know how long it will take to get used to option+5 for [ though... and all the IDE shortcuts are different too...

@ShotgunSurgeon had the exact same issue, closing stuff accidentally is so annoying...
So to solve it I bought a US International Bluetooth keyboard, the German layout is horrible for programming.

Crapple is just the troll of OS developers.
Do yourself a favor and switch to Neo2.0 layout, it's platform neutral and you'll type faster.

Hmm I was wondering if I should give programmers Dvorak a try if I already have to get used to another layout

Having overcome the same transition, as a dev, I will never go back to Qwertz - Suddenly [ ] { and } are suddenly on the fucking keyboard and don't need to be summoned by clicking Shift, alt, your firstborn son and a dragon's toe at summer solstice. The thousands if closed emails were totally worth it.

I am getting used to it but opt+5 for [ is still nasty. Will try neo 2.0 next week as I have no stress this week
