retnikt67746yIf it didn't come with DDR4 it probably can't support it so get the SSD. Unless you mean it already has 8gb DDR4 and you're getting 8gb more. Either way I'd probably still get the SSD tbh.

shahlin4856y@retnikt my laptop only supports DDR4, it already has DDR4 8GB. I was thinking of adding 8GB more

shahlin4856y@Embeddeded @Batburger @AleCx04 Thanks for your reply, now let's say I buy the SSD. Do I have to always use it externally? I still want to use my HDD.
Also, how easy is it to transfer my Linux OS to the SSD? -
retnikt67746y@shahlin if you're going to still use the hard drive you should use *it* externally because otherwise you're wasting the potential of the SSD.
To transfer, connect your SSD externally (temporarily) and use some kind of disk copying utility (or DD or cp) to copy the files then swap the drives and reboot. You'll need a USB to sata adapter (like $15 on Amazon/etc.) to connect it. -

@shahlin I use a samsung evo in my desktop. (Note: You probably need mounting hardware)

shahlin4856y@Batburger Is there any problem in using SSDs externally though? Other than the hassle of carrying it around or losing it

Go for crucial or samsung.
Avoid junk like corsair, sandisk,wd (their hdd are great but ssd are so/so)
Any recommendations on what I should get? 8GB DDR4 RAM or 240GB SSD
I have Dell Inspiron 3567 with 8GB RAM and 1TB HDD. I would just like to have an overall faster/smoother experience in my day to day tasks. Like opening up applications or building projects.
Maybe it's worth mentioning that I do a lot of Android development. Haha!
question
noob at this
ram or ssd
