7Raiden8756y1) if you can't even format your math question I'm not even goons read that
2) is it possible to solve it analytically? I don't think so! -
@7Raiden you can at least simplify the term on the left with the third binomial formula (x+y)(x-y) = x^2 - y^2 and a bit of factoring, the result is -12x. That should already have earned an E grade.
But from that point, I don't see an analytical solution either. -
7Raiden8756y@Fast-Nop Well yeah fair enough, but if lhs is rational, and rhs is transcendent, I then thought the question was fake (ie just for the meme)
-
@7Raiden that in itself wouldn't make it insolvable. tan() has an easy value at multiples of pi, and log at every power of 10. It's just that none of these values work out here.
On the other hand, the simplification mentioned above takes 5 minutes at most - maybe a numeric approximation with Newton was being asked for. -
7Raiden8756y@Fast-Nop Maybe, the question just states "find x", which makes me think it's either fake or the prof is just too stupid as this doesn't test your knowledge but just the ability you have to do a monkey job!
Discussing domain, plot it (at least on the critical points) and maybe find one of the many/any/none zeroes numerically would have made much more sense!
The reason I am persuing GATE XD
