    As a person with some experience with animation and composing music for money, I can tell you that being a programmer you get a lot more for the hours you put in.

    An IT job (there's not many lmao) in my hometown can earn you up to $20k more than the average household income.

    If you're from a 3rd world country, that's one thing. But to generalize for everyone seems pretty bullshit.

    @Stuxnet Even in a 3rd world country, a programmer is probably still doing better than many other people there who are already struggling with access to clean water.

    I couldn’t disagree more. People risking their lives (firefighters, policemen, for example) earn half of what i make. While i only type some code.
