@Marl3x nah, I would've just browsed reddit otherwise.. This was way more fun, plus that's one less person he has time to scam

Remembers me of the speech by Feross „The Annoying Site a.k.a. "The Power of the Web Platform“

@Marl3x It's not wasting your time if you make an idiot jump through some fun loops.

    Trust me, I'm a BOFH.

@ilPinguino and it was amazing, first time I've tried it. He went through msconfig, netstat and event viewer 😂

@KasperNS Damn, I never got one of those on the phone. "My" scammers always just want to bullshit me into binary options. WAY less fun that way.

@ilPinguino yeah it was pretty great. He also started out by making me enter my email into a w3c validator, and telling that the 5 errors, meant I had 5 hackers in my system

@KasperNS There's end users who believe this bullcrap... Shit, we DO need better CS ed.

@ilPinguino indeed, the worst thing was. I asked if he liked scamming people. "very much" was his answer

@KasperNS Well who doesn't like it? It's basically free money off other peoples lack of knowledge... If you can live with the moral consequences, that is.

@ilPinguino yeah it's the moral aspect that bothers me

@KasperNS And that's why you, me and probably the vast majority of the devrant community don't do that kind of stuff - we're sheepdogs, not wolves.

I mean, there are some scammers - like that false Elon Musk guy - who, I think, can be tolerated. Predators have always been part of society, ever since we started walking on two feet.

On the other hand, we've always dealt with predators - both the animal and the human kind.

When I hear someone takes greedy people for 180k by pretending to be Elon Musk, I'll just say it as it is: Society needs that kind of predator. Natural Selection. If he's caught, society gets some "justice", but his victims - they need to wisen up and learn their lessons from that on their own here.

Scaring people with bullcrap such as this, on the other hand... We need to educate people to prevent this - turn cybersheep into cybersheepdogs.

But that doesn't mean fighting back isn't a good thing. You did that. Kudos, fellow sheepdog. Woof.
