They’re making us use netbeans for class. Like I have a whole lab on learning how to use it. I’m not going to class, I finished the lab in 2 minutes. This one particular class is so dumb, we’ve had labs on ms word, PowerPoint, excel... they could have just done an optional workshop for people who don’t know how to use them. Waste of 2 hours every Thursday. And the teachers a dickhead

I use netbeans myself, voluntarily. Love it!

@kenogo I definitely agree on that one!

@linuxxx Im still amazed that it exists, you are the only one I know who likes using it. At school we were forced to use it, but I just use my own IDE either way by running it from an usb stick...

You are like those people who bought a winrar license (as consumer).

@Codex404 What can I say haha, it's funny that many people say what you say, what are your arguments behind not liking it? (if you have any)

Anyhow, it feels a lot (the interface with a Dracula theme) like phpstorm to me but then open source, which I like!

@linuxxx when I had to use it there was no dark theme implemented, their website was shitty as fuck and couldnt find anything about themes. You had to go to third party websites to download a theme. And the themes only changed the text editor itself, not the menu bars.

And Dracula is not a nice theme, for me as colorblind it was about the same as not using syntax highlighting at all.

Basically not enough settings or not documented well enough. Both Visual Studio and jetbrains products have easier settings.

(all this is 6 years ago, things might have changed)

I'm glad we were able to use what we want, the 'standard' was Eclipse though.. I always used IntelliJ. The Prof saw it, liked it for it's features and speed and now every PC has IntelliJ preinstalled

IDLE is better for Python than NetBeans is for anything, IMHO. NetBeans failed to point out an errant semicolon until I straight-up moused over it, instead deciding to tell me the rest of my valid script was bad. What is it, the compiler?
