    @gitpush

    Sorry :(

    btw, you need atleast 8GB of RAM - ZFS is kinda heavy

    @Linux I have 32GB was planning to throw it in a VM to try it out, do you think it is a bad idea?

    @gitpush

    If you want to test it out in a VM, consider adding 3 or 4 virtual drives in order to test ZFS :)

    @Linux thanks, any minimum size for the drives? I'm thinking of 50GB

    @gitpush

    I dont know about a minimum actually, but for testing - 50GB would probably be perfect!

    FreeNAS is a real pain in the ass if you want anything other than super core features. Just roll your distro of choice and config it yourself. It’s not rocket science.

    @notlikethis it’s not pnp though. If that’s what you want get a QNAP or equivalent box.

    @620hun

    Well, I have only used it for a week and I get great performance from a shitty 2 core celeron with 8 GB RAM.

    1+1+4+4 TB + 120GB SSD cache.

    The reason that I dont want to do things from scratch is ZFS + lack of time. It does what I need - storage

    It is close to plug 'n' play actually. Everything that takes under 60 minutes for me is plug'n'play :P
