Fuck ruby. I've spent less time learning the ecosystems of java, golang, node, and docker combined compared to the shit ruby is flinging at me like some sort of deranged baboon

    How so?

How can you possibly spend so much time with it? All you really need is bundler and gem.

It took me one workday to make a small console application which consumed our API with a client certificate. This was without ever having heard of gems, having seen the syntax of ruby or anything like that before starting it.

How is it a difficult language?

    How is Ruby difficult?

I'll admit I'm just frustrated. It's probably more the fact that I'm dealing with an old legacy stack that's glued together with several Ruby scripts written to work for a customized distribution of Ruby 1.9. I know, it's shit, but I'm particularly frustrated with Ruby version management, installation, and dependencies. I can barely get set up with the current stack, and I haven't even sniffed modernizing everything
