mngr9406yI use machinekit, it is very complete when talking about CNCs, it even has speeds override.
running on linux it does not need a sender of command. it is possible to build a command receiver in machinekit, but no one has done it yet.
I work with 3d printers so my CAM software is a slicer 😅 -
@iKameo Well, I'm a windows user...
Could use a VM, but LinuxCNC can't control GRBL, and I'm using a GRBL shield -
mngr9406y@GyroGearloose nono you no understand 😉
LinuxCNC or machinekit replace grbl.
to use it you would have to change the board, from an arduino to maybe a beaglebone... It could be a bit expensive...
and moving things to the arduino via USB from linuxcnc may not be the best idea...
anyway, you should still try machinekit or linuxcnc!!! -
mngr9406y@GyroGearloose you can actually install machinekit on any computer.
they come out of the parallel port age. Now to control some contact without the parallel port there are other systems. I use a mesa 7i76e for example -
@mngr So... No good solution to work with GRBL?
Cause I already have the hardware... -
mngr9406yI am not practical of grbl 😅
and I work with printers... So... Here I am just spamming 😁 -
@mngr Nah :D I'm checking everything you say, might not be what I need now but when I get to steel CNCs I'll probably upgrade everything.

CNC software
Hey guys
what do you guys use to control your DIY CNCs?
I'm using UGS, Universal Gcode Platform, but it has a slight problem... doesn't work with functions.
Meaning, I just had to write a 75 lines program that could be an 8 line program If I could use loops and GOTO...
Also, what CAM software do you use?
