Right at the top of the image, Netflix is starting to use WhatsApp for communication

“We value your privacy, but can we contact you by email, text and WhatsApp“

@err-occured oh.. well if their target market are generally using it, why not?

@Mousey i don’t know, it’s only asking if he’s on whatsapp not “Hey, we’re on whatsapp too”

@C0D4 mu guess is the stuff he covered in white is his whatsapp number

I agree with your fist comment @Mousey, I don’t agree with business doing things like that.

I know I’ve given them my mobile number for password recovery when I signed up, and also in the hopes they would bring 2FA.

It makes me edgy on how business use personal information to look up information about you. Netflix don’t need to know that I use WhatsApp unless I specify that I want them too.

@err-occured While I agree with on the general principle with you, since you have given permission to WhatsApp to do whatever they want with your number/information, they're free to sell it to whomever they want.

@Jilano I think the rules need revising on that one if that is the case as that’s completely wrong of companies to do that.

With WhatsApp you can find and add some one with a mobile number if they are in your contacts or you add them through WhatsApp.

In this case, Netflix has used my number to see if I’m on WhatsApp, but they have done that without my knowledge.

@err-occured Of course it needs to change! But as long as people are willing to accept anything for their own little thing, it won't.

@Mousey Agreed. Hopefully it'll get sorted out in the next few years.

I think whatsapp have opened its API for businesses. For the last month or so, I've witnessed two or more websites for online booking, brokering, etc. with WhatsApp integration.

Stop using privacy-invading software like WhatsApp.

    Seriously.
    Stop.

Ok so I was wrong, this is a whatsapp thing, and we all know who own them..

What could you honestly expect from data mining companies like well...
