#justathought

(Disclaimer: Don't think am being racist or anti feminist, i am currently studying about industrial revolutions and trade unions, nd this thought came to my mind )

We went from the time where women were forced to work in industries, to the time where women were forced to stay at home, to the time when women are willing to work in the industry.

I don't think during any of these times people were forced to work or not work, it just became encouraged one way or the other

I wouldn't really say I'm willing to work, more I don't really have a choice if I want to survive on this dumbass planet

@ThomasRedstone there was a lot of social pessure to do one thing or the other. My mum was literally told by her family "what do you want to go uni for? You'll be a mother anyway and have to take care of your husband!"
She was also called crazy when she tried to ask my dad for help in the household with lifting heavy stuff after she just gave birth to me.
Don't underestimate the united power of idiots and ignorants... and general social preasure :/

Seriously, you're right. Women that live in the western world today live better than any woman in history.

@hasu yeah, I don't disagree, but while there has been resistance, there have still been some women who went against the grain and chanced their ambitions (Ada Lovelace being a great example, mother of the computer!)
Absolutely, it wasn't easy (I guess being a countess helped her along), but many things that's weren't common, weren't strictly prohibited.
But then there were really stupid discriminatory things, like women being unable to get mortgages alone, even if they had the income to justify it (that one didn't end all that long ago)
