You know the chatbot isn't going to be able to fix a fucking printer.
It's the old "Good with computers" meme. Kids who know how to use an eyeDevice aren't the same people who know how to build things or code. Even a smaller subset of those people know how entire technology stacks work from top to bottom (or have the capacity to learn). -
@djsumdog "to fix a printer" is not in the sense of replacing parts or realigning heads or some other hardware jumbo jumbo. I meant it in the sense of "making it work". As in, "you click here. Now here. This alert shows up, dont be afraid, it is not some hacker stealing your soul, it is just a pop-up dialog box"
Purely software problems. Text-based AIs should be more than capable of fixing that.
Maybe this (genAi) will be the UX that makes old people finally use anything more complex than a toaster. They already enjoy reading poorly written, fact-lacking propaganda slop on their phones all day anyway, it should be a familiar experience. -

Fuck, its 2025 and we still cant shake away the "you work with technology, you must know how to fix my microwave" stereotype.
Seriously, I have fewer apps in my phone and access fewer websites and even spend less time on my devices than the HR old hags, and yet im the one who has to come and "explain to them how to print a PDF".
Holly fucking crap. I haven't used a printer in MONTHS. With the cost of the time I will take to figure out how to communicate with those mummies that is 'just click the print button', they could hire ChatGPT to do it for a decade.
Fuuuuuck, that is the reason those stupid AI chat bots exist! To endlessly toil at the repetitive and predictable task of saying 'hi there! Have you clicked "print"?'
Imma gonna leave work early and get pissed. Luckily, I've already done a couple hours of OT for the day, so it won't seem so out of the ordinary.
