The other day when I visited a local cafe, I noticed that the bartender's jukebox PC type of thing has Windows XP on it. Not sure if I should visit that cafe any more 🤔

Most of these pc's do. Seen the insides of one before. Never again I tell ya

Also, often it isn't their own pc, they just pay some company to have music and they install and manage the pc and it's online music database

@epse dirt, dust, debris? It seems oddly intriguing to me how bartenders might take care of their electronics 🤔

@Condor all of the above, and they predate smoking being disallowed so a fair bit of yellow stuff as well. All in all, great fun.

When I see someone talking aboyt win xp, the first thing that comes to mind: is it connected to lan/wan? 😁

@netikras hell yes because Internet radio my friend!

Ffs let people use what they want. If it plays music, it plays music. What should matter is whether it's a good cafe or not.

Instead of avoiding the place, how about making a polite suggestion to the owners to upgrade? You might learn the reason they haven't upgraded yet.

@epse then question #2: does the coffe-house have free lan for customers? If so, I'm set for the afternoon :)

@RememberMe For all I care, people can use whatever they want! NHS can keep on using unpatched Windows XP on their infrastructure, users can disable those annoying updates, and so can cafés, I don't mind. But the temptation to use some old exploits against it because ancient software stacks make it so dirt easy to hack is difficult to ignore mate! So just like @netikras I'd be fully set if they offer free WiFi or something like that.. perhaps for different reasons though :P

@Condor I don't think our reasonings differ that much :)

@netikras Glad to hear that we think alike! 😁

@Condor i stopped bringing my laptop to my local lodge cause of that. The wifi and lan is bridged i know cause i was curious and did a port scan one day. Way too tempting to play free music
