Anyone know why using "OS" instead of "Operating System" in AQA A-Level computing loses you marks?

@jespersh it said in the mark scheme to accept operating system and reject os.

Also our teacher doesnt mark our theory papers, he makes the class do a question then pass it on to someone else, so I have no idea who marked it anyway.

Don’t stand for bullshit. Complain, make sure you get an answer.

because your teacher is an AH

@helloworld we are talking about a national exam board, OS isn't really clear, and I doubt complaining will change their minds...

@ThomasRedstone There is always a complaints mechanism. Speak to higher ups and explain your grievance and ask about the procedure. Don’t let them talk you out of it you have a valid complaint and it should be at least reviewed.

@helloworld how is it a valid complaint thought? OS isn't really an answer! For a question at that level, you use words

@ThomasRedstone the correct answer was just "operating system" and nothing else, but there were other questions too where you got a mark for mentioning operating system but not os

@LavaTheif I can imagine, they're giving marks for knowing and understanding terms, and they're super pedantic, this works in your favour too, as by writing directly to the marking criteria for course work you can exactly meet each one, and move on, producing much more concise work than is usual, saving yourself, and the marker time, out worked well when I was in formal education!
