Lmao I have a class that the professor described as "50 to 60% linux"

Is this karma for liking windows?

    @linuxxx I'm going to try and find a computer at my uni's surplus store tomorrow and put Kali on it so I can be a heckerman lol

    But I guess it's life's way of telling me to stop being a lazy shit and actually learn something I'll need.

    @Stuxnet I've used kali as main os for a while, mostly because except for the security tools, when installed right it can be a very good 'normal' desktop system :)

    @linuxxx Well the hierarchy for usage would be
    win10 > Mint > Kali lol

    I'm just trying to get into security and all more, but I'm tired of waiting for class & in this field I think the ability to teach yourself skills through research + trial and error is a good thing to have.

    @FrodoSwaggins Like we're learning Linux as the vast majority of the subject of the class.

    @Stuxnet I learned all 'hacking' and security stuff I know today myself. Just start trying! Keep an eye on what's legal though ;)

    @linuxxx
    And then do everything that isn't.

    @Stuxnet Good luck my dude, I hope you enjoy learning way more about Linux.

    I'd recommend O'reilly's Pocket Guide to Linux for some command-line guidance. I had a copy when I started out, and it served me incredibly well in my formative Linux years.

    Kali user here, you’ll love it. ❤️

    @TJourney I'll take a look at it, thanks!

    @AnonyOps It looks fun and I'm looking to have a career in security, so gotta start somewhere. Plus I've already had one of the professors that teaches security, and he's basically said he'll help me or point me in the direction of help.

    @Stuxnet Glad to hear that. That’s what field I’m in, if I can help in anyway just @ me.
    I’m glad to see you going into security, you won’t be disappointed! Once you dive into kali and it’s many tools, you’ll learn to love it way more. Hell, I’ve even got kali on my Windows 10 machine. https://kali.org/news/...

    It’s one of the biggest tools you’ll have in your belt.
