How Youtube deters unofficial downloaders.... It's really fast for 90% of the download. Then the final 10% is slow as hell...

Maybe will never actually finish... perhaps they're using the halving algo where in theory it never reaches the end

@filthyranter nah, they "have an algo to make it slow in the end." Thats why youtube-dl works with full speed until the very end.

even with jdownloader i havent seen behaviour like this since the glorious filesharer days. The few occassions i downloaded something from youtube with jdownloader2 it worked quite flawless, although there seemed to be an overall cap on maximum bandwith that can be used accross downloads.
