Hm.... This looks scrapable. Just give a list of cities and have app refresh and notify when one is available...
Though feels like I'm a scalper than... And maybe that's the thing.... There are apps already drinking this a reselling appts...4 -
In Spring/Boot if you annotate a class as a Service is it started on a different thread? I used @PostConstruct to start listening to a connection.
The class with main () seems to just load Beans defined in the AppConfig?
I need it to start a thread that listens to a Mongo Changestream and trigger some action on each.
I noticed a log line under the watch() is never reached so seems it's blocking...8 -
Architecture for Java REST API going to build/port from existing NodeJS one.
So Spring Boot + *
Lots of concurrent requests and large MongoDB calls. Current APIs use like 4GB memory for each instance because they don't use stream/pipe the response. Hold all data in memory and then return it all at once to user.
And well we expect more load in the future, so want to do this the right way.
So my understanding since this morning, is there's the blocking? MongoClient, (find* returns List) and now a Reactive MongoClient which is very async and like JS promises. Based on Pub, Sub model.
But the downside of JS promises was callback hell.
So actually 2 questions.
1. For each request, the db call done using the same MongoClient/db connection such that if there are 2 requests one would block the other?
2. Reactive Mongo would be non-blocking by design so would be better to support streamed responses?8 -

How do you keep shared libraries used by multiple microservices in sync?
For example, a model class in a shared lib used by some of your microservices. If a new field is added, how would you quickly identify which microservices need to be updated, redeployed? And do it quickly.
Or say the model library has many classes, used by different services. 1 class changed, and only 2/10 services reference it. Do you target only three 2 or so of them? Or would those be bad design?21 -
This is getting crazy... Flying taxis... Really?
Regulation, safety, fuel economics... I don't see it... And in just 3yrs too?8 -
! Dev
As a Netflix subscriber, don't you feel inundated by new content and the need to binge "since paid for it"? How much time do you spend watching?
Just signed up for 30-day trial and and there are like so many original shows and movies and well in multiple languages. And a separate section for Coming Soon which contained like an unending list of movies and tv series.5 -
Java vs C++ for low latency... Thoughts?
I guess my immediate other is why aren't OSs written in Java?
https://stackoverflow.blog/2021/02/...7 -
I should probably rename this variable...
Every time I read/type it, my inner voice goes "for fucks sake"....4 -
What I own a car?!?! Where can I claim it?
Oh wait, it's probably another scam call...
The amount of detail in this one is pretty amazing though... Most just call and hang-up.3 -
In advertised crime I get really annoyed when it hides the address bar. I have to scroll the page all the way up to get it to show again.!
How can I get it to show immediately or not hide it at all!? -
Has anyone else found that not all USB C inputs are the same? You can't just buy an cable and expect it to plug into any socket.
1. I replaced the cable for a power pack, but the new one didn't fit my OP6 socket well, no clicking and have to push it in very hard to get it to charge, and still eat to fall out
2. The pixel 2 cable fits it nicely and all cables are ready to plugin and work
3. I tried charging my new Pixel 4a with ur though but very hard to plug in. Had to install the charger and cable that came with.
4. Amazon Fire takes all of them nicely and send all the others can use the cable that came with it too8 -
New Pixel 4a arrived... Hate the defaults... Gestures... I guess at least there was an option to get the buttons back though had to figure out how to open Chrome and Google it.
Now I just need to really for like... The whole day for our to finish downloading 141 apps from backup... And well I'll prolly uninstall half of them...3 -
Just decided to go "all in" on Amazon but then see this... (See previous rant)
Maybe I should just go half in? (3 shares)19 -
Should've traded in my pixel 2 for the 5g during Black Friday..... Main phone is a rooted OnePlus 6... Which specs wise and without the bloat ware still beats Pixel aside from the camera...
Apparently it's now impossible to hide root.... Which means for day to day use, have to use an unrooted phone....10 -
While chatting with a colleague that just became a parent. He said he's uses Alexa for his smart home.
So I'm like hmm.. If you're always yelling Alexa... I wonder what the baby's first words will be...
And maybe that's the whole point... Conditioning the next generation to pick Amazon products as the default...6 -
Caught myself rationalizing a $50 in game gold purchase... That I'll probably banned from eventually the moment I can cheat again...
Must remember I'm playing bc I'm bored... Not because I wanna win...9 -
Apple users, would you ever ditch their products? And assuming u can drive, would u buy their car?14

I suddenly just want to retire.... Job just feels like never ending work.... Can't find time for a break... And well biggest fear in taking a vacation is the amount of work that piles up while I'm gone...
Maybe I suddenly just have burn out... But suddenly just going ah fck... What's the point of all this....
Sometimes wonder, if I didn't have parents around would I just quit and and just do whatever I want until I run out of money...
How many years that would take....10 -
I just realized the problem I have with my team is that a lot of people don't seem to be any smarter than computers..
Usually when i tell someone to do something, I tell them overall goal and give them a general direction, the first step I would do. And well then tell them to go work out the details from there or come back to me if they have a **specific** problem.
1 month later I check back in and they're like I emailed ..., Still waiting for them to reply.
/(ò.ó)┛彡┻━┻
Can't you be a little more resourceful or creative, try looking for another way... Human....
I understand that, at least for now, I still need to tell computers exactly what to do and how handle errors...
But you're not a computer and the whole point of telling you to do something is I expect you to use your brain and think for yourself when something unexpected happens...5 -
Wow $50 a month for LinkedIn premium.... What a joke?
Signed up for trial just to msg some ppl at Google and Microsoft... Including Nadella.... No reply but still.... Wow.... Why the fuck would anyone pay for this stuff other than recruiters...
Is this some sort of status symbol?10 -
An old boss that basically screwed me over is now becoming my boss's boss.
While he's not really supposed to be hands on with our team, it seems my boss is planning to become more passive too.
And well this team isn't exactly run very well anyway...
I just don't see things getting any better but also feel I'm stuck... as there's no way out... Unless I find some moonshot opportunity...3 -
So what's with the whole Elastic open source licenses thing. Seems like a spat btwn then and Amazon?
https://elastic.co/blog/...
Amazon now argues that doing this means Elasticsearch and Kibana will no longer be open sourced and that the Elastic License limits how the code can be used while the Server Side Public License makes it unacceptable to the open-source community.23 -
How do you feel when you built like 90% of a project, all the main logic and then you hang out over to another dev to basically clean it up for you?
Like optimize some queries, build the frontend, test it with the users.5 -
We all get replaced by AI and nobody can understand their source code...
And everyone else just goes: hey it works ¯\_(ツ)_/¯13 -
If only USPS was so timely... They can't even fwd to the correct address...
Just got an email saying my packages were delivered.
And they were literally just delivered.4 -
Originally wanted to get a head start on work since gonna be out Monday... And don't want to be distracted while working on it... But UAT db was down.
So spent all morning working on side projects like a password manager because we're not allowed to use keepass...2 -
Anyone else feel in hindsight, college was a huge waste of money so basically just 4yrs of partying/independence from parents?

I majored in finance and information systems... Well the finance stuff I remember (for stock trading) I could've learned reading some books.
IS... I didn't even need to try since I started coding when I was a kid. SQL, know it already... Matlab/weka, just another language/tool.23
