Quick question:
Do y'all think that it (the plural version of Anime) is spelled Animes or Anime?
Asking for a friend.

"Anime" is a collective, I guess the plural is the same.

Other examples would be "porn" and "hentai". You don't say or write "porns" or "hentais"

@xewl you said that "hentais" won't work. It doesn't sound correct.
Same thing can be applied to German. It doesn't sound right, because you are used to put an "s" after almost every noun.
He uses this argument + the fact that a German dictionary website says that the plural form of it is "Animes". https://duden.de/rechtschreibung/....

In the end he was like, "Ok, you're right, but the German version of it is "Animes"".
Me: That doesn't give you the right to change it and that's wrong. You still need to use the original form. In Japanese the plural form of it stays the same. There is no German version of it.

IMO don't overthink it. Any "think of it like ___" example can probably be countered with SOME way to put an -s ending on the word. All it comes down to is "animes" looks and sounds weird, for now. So avoid it, for now. When in doubt, turn it into an adjective and throw an extra noun after it that you can comfortably pluralize.

"That's my favorite anime." <- non-issue
"I watch a lot of anime." <- like 'music' here
"Those two anime series are just more magical girl garbage." <- dodge the drama
