Is worth buying a gaming laptop for programming purposes and others like rendering and compiling.

like having an i7-8750H instead of an U one
and an 1050ti instead of intel 620
ofcourse the SSD is on both

the price are close enough, that is why i am thinking of getting a gaming one for it's capability

WTF prices close? Are you comparing a mac and and a regular laptop?
How is an Intel H series laptop is close in price to an intel U series?
And make sure SSD on the gaming laptop is a good one, not some random shit useless ssd (looking at you Lenovo -_- )

Go with the gaming one, at least you will not need to buy a new one in few years, that beast will live long with you. Just make sure to upgrade RAM to 32GB or maybe 64GB and it should serve you till the end of your days :3

@gitpush depends if you expect to run on battery sometimes, gaming one will likely have a very short battery life, but other than that, I've moved to a gaming laptop, and it is nice!

@Redders Good point, that is the only downside, guess it is up to OP to decide if battery life vs performance. I personally would choose performance, I rarely find the need to work on battery

Lets just shorten the question to "is it worth buying a gaming laptop"

And the answer is always no, its never worth buying a gaming laptop

@gitpush macbooks are a bit too expensive for my budget

i saw an asus vivobook with i7-8550U for about 800euros

and for 820+ around there an acer predator with i7-8750H 8gb and 250gb ssd + 1050ti 4 gb

i will find good use for the Gfx card instead of gaming

    Check for:

    nvme ssd slot
(not mandatory but a huge plus)
[Might be overkill for ~800$ :-(]

    1080p display (mandatory)

a good backlit keyboard. (Your life depends on this!)

    A fast wifi card (mandatory)
(Usually on ~800$ laptops wifi sucks, 300Mbit/s is painful)

The Nvidia card is useful for cuda stuff.
    (Ffmpeg,opencv,tensorflow)
