I accept if I'm paid sum salary of the missing devs ...
  • 15
    @gitpush still nope.
  • 9
I already made that mistake and I'm slowly sinking with the project.
  • 9
@Rematix at the bottom you will find me ... it's nice here ... we dont have weekends , or a life ... but we have nervous breakdowns <3 !
  • 3
@gitpush they dont know ... how many dev's they need ... you are the only one ! If you manage to do some miracle during your weekend's ...it is NORMAL :)
  • 1
@sciobotaru then I will simply say: fuck off I'm outta this place!
  • 4
@gitpush slowly going there :) . I still want to finish a part of the project . Anyhow , just wanted to warn other people :) .
  • 2
@sciobotaru Wish you all the best on finding a better place.
To tell you about the future, once you resign, they will tell you: BUT WE WILL INCREASE YOUR SALARY.

    But nothing will change ...
  • 2
    already on my 3rd life
  • 3
Hmm... It depends on the start-up, I'd say.

I worked at a web dev shop where I was the only dev and they just kept piling on client requests and new projects. It was a soul-sucking nightmare.

Currently I'm the only dev where I'm at but I'm responsible for one app with a 1 year dev cycle. So far the worst part about it is the constant meetings.

@fullslack let me understand you done this 3 TIMES ?? Are you insane ?

  • 2
@sciobotaru Yes, @fullslack is in Kraków, Paris :D

@Root how do you get to that kind of ++ points ? You have a script that comments on each post with "truth" and then you get like 80% of the time a ++ back ? :D Or you are a genuine person that likes to socialize alot on this platform ?
  • 1
@sciobotaru cheers, send me a virtual one
  • 2
    @Jilano new polish district
  • 1

@fullslack maaaan its falling already :D i just dont have the time to cut it (only once each 3 months or so ) :)))
  • 2

@Root Ruby vs Python , React vs Angular ... we check both wars . Awsome !
  • 2
@fullslack Exactly! I heard they have nice pastry there.

@sciobotaru No worries, haha! (I'll take you up on the offer you made him next time I go there, though :D)

I’m going to slowly die anyway
  • 2
@sciobotaru The best motivation is income
  • 0
@Devnergy the money is the average salary . I agree with you if i get 3x my monthly salary 80 hours a week would be awsome :)
  • 1
@Jilano perfect ! Du you prefer wine ?
  • 1
    Haha thats me
  • 1
@localjoost welcome friend ! It is also me :) .
  • 2
@sciobotaru Of course! With a bit of cheese that would be perfect (I'm think some "morbier").
  • 1
@Jilano WHO SAID WE CANT SOCIALIZE ? Let's do this !
  • 1
@sciobotaru if they will pay you lots of money - example millions - then I think you will not rant/complain here. Instead, you will do whatever it takes to do it - by hook or by crook. By all means necessary.

    The best motivation is income.
  • 2
    @sciobotaru Haha! I'll definitely ring you whenever I'll go "dans l'Nord" :D

We were two. The guy who got lead was part time. I got fired.

It was a nightmare and I tilted so hardsddd

  • 2
Well, I mean, technically we're all dying slowly.....
  • 1
I think you'll die quite quickly with the workload and all.
  • 1
I'm the only dev in my startup but also one of the founders. That can be harsh indeed, but when you have the power to say "no", I believe it's not that awful.

But still, I crave for a tech discussion every week.

    eeew startups
  • 1
    It's true
  • 0
@react-guy power to say "no" ... what is that ?
  • 1
@sciobotaru No? What is that? Additionally, I work in Poland. "No" is informal for yes ;(
  • 1
@sciobotaru idk if you're joking or not, but basically, making your associate understand when he is promising too much to a client.
Doesn't work with all people, but if you find a good match, it is working pretty well.
  • 0
@react-guy mate you are a shareholder ! You have POWER , i have 0.5% in 3 years ... so it amounts to nothing . It is different as a partner than as a employée !
  • 0
@sciobotaru I agree, but for the record I own shares of basically nothing now. The company is very young.
So yeah I've got power, but I also have the risk coming with it.

@sciobotaru most job openings are start ups. Oh well
  • 2
Know that feeling, being the only dev in a start up nearly killed me, it actually gave me a heart problem caused by stress. I work on my own now and have very little stress and my heart problem cleared up with medical treatment.

So don't do it, it's almost as bad as being told by someone that they have a great idea for an App.

@cervantes01 at least you managed to keep your hair.
  • 0
