    @gitpush iT means that packages for old distros were suddenly removed from the Debian repo. It means we’ll have to find some other repo that still provides the packages

    @xalys wow, without notice? why would they do that? How many sys admin went right into depression because of this?

    Well, security support ended last summer. Wouldn't that have been reason enough to get off deb8?

    @bahua yes, if time permits. Look, running the latest stable version is best - but not always possible in production. Now, I got a request from a customer to run Debian 7, which is a real issue. I obviously declined.

    @gitpush they did it because Debian 8 is not being updated anymore, but running 8 isn’t that bad (9 is the newest). It’s quite easy to ‘fix’ by finding a Debian ‘archive’ repo that offers packages for older distros, but still annoying. If you monitor this stuff properly, you’ll have a mailbox filled with apt complaining. :)
