xalys16076y@gitpush iT means that packages for old distros were suddenly removed from the Debian repo. It means we’ll have to find some other repo that still provides the packages
-
@xalys wow, without notice? why would they do that? How many sys admin went right into depression because of this?
-
bahua128016yWell, security support ended last summer. Wouldn't that have been reason enough to get off deb8?
-
xalys16076y@bahua yes, if time permits. Look, running the latest stable version is best - but not always possible in production. Now, I got a request from a customer to run Debian 7, which is a real issue. I obviously declined.

xalys16076y@gitpush they did it because Debian 8 is not being updated anymore, but running 8 isn’t that bad (9 is the newest). It’s quite easy to ‘fix’ by finding a Debian ‘archive’ repo that offers packages for older distros, but still annoying. If you monitor this stuff properly, you’ll have a mailbox filled with apt complaining. :)
"Hey debian, why is jessie-backports and jessie-updates gone?"
