Why do so many instructors/tutorials/books leave the comma out of “Hello, world?” It bugs the shit out of me. I know they know better...

    I have quite literally only seen a comma in a single hello world program from some random Indian guy with terrible English.

    It's not wrong without a comma at all.

    Hello Broseph,
    As you can see when I write a Hello xxx there is no comma between. Having a comma between them feels like a general greeting (hello) and then a special greet for the the thing after the comma, basically like "Hello everyone, Broseph"

    To be fair the question mark bothers me more than the comma there :P

    @fuckwit The punctuation mark goes inside the quotes. It’s not my fault English is stooopid 🤣

    @filthyranter I’ve never heard of a “Hello world.”

    @broseph It's a greeting to the world.
    Clarifying in verbosity:

    Hello world! ->
    I am announcing my existence to the world!

    @filthyranter you’re addressing the world. Ya neeeeed a comma, man...

    You really need to read your sentences carefully if you are going to nit-pick about grammar and punctuation.
