Virtualbox stopped working on my pc at some point and I have no clue why. I've tried a lot of things, it just doesn't work

    Aren't there logs it generates?

    Check logs

    Try upgrade as admin/root... depending on OS

    You haven't installed something else that uses virtualisation?

    @darksideofyay
    Is it just virtualbox that won't start or a vm within?

    @darksideofyay Have you installed anything related to HyperV or have you updated Docker recently?

    @theKarlisK hyper v is disabled

    @darksideofyay as @C0D4 mentioned - is it that VirtualBox as a whole is not starting/responding or is it one of the VM's set up inside VirtualBox?

    @theKarlisK i can create a vm, it just doesn't start

    i've been procrastinating to format this thing forever, i should just do that and wish for the best

    @darksideofyay that's probably the surest way to get this working and to clean out gunk from your hard drive in the process. However, if this ends up repeating afrer some time, will you do a full reinstall again?

    @darksideofyay look up if there are any logs angwhere and see if this isn't some folder permission problem... it could just as well be that something like iso in the virtual DVD rom has been deleted. Also, I'm not sure but maybe some services that are needed aren't starting because windows sudde ly deemed them too resource intensive and just disabled them during startup.

    go to your bios and check if virtualization is enabled or not. as well can you please share the error status or the message?
