Fucking youtube ads... Showing me the same retarded ad 100s of times a day will definitely make me buy the thing, real fucking geniuses...

I am still looking for a way to block them forever on android, but I have no idea how. I've been looking for a public key or some sort of certificate in the apk so I could at least do a man in the middle, but no luck so far..

    You can use the Firefox browser on Android with the uBlock Origin addon. Then you can watch Youtube without ads.
    With an addon called "Video Background Play Fix" you can even have Youtube videos play in background. Super handy!

    @RantSomeWhere It doesn't.

    Try NewPipe or SkyTube. Neither show ads for me.

    On my phone, NewPipe plays videos only on second try, while SkyTube is crash-happy when using search. So... both somewhat buggy here. But worth it.

    Pihole for your home network.
    There are a coupe of apps in fdroid that can block network calls, they say no root required so give it a try.
    New pipe is cook, but has no Chromecast support.. and if it did, the video playing in Chromecast would have ads, pihole would solve that.

    @RantSomeWhere I don't want to root my phone, but even if I did, youtube serves the ads from the same domain.

    @SparkyTD hey I have been using this app called as "YouTube Vanced" suggested by our very own @Condor (he's amazing btw). Also use "blokada" (remove system wide ads), again credit goes to him. But the best part is they both don't require root.
    Enjoy 🙂

    @mundo03 I'm using pihole for my home network, but I have not been able to block youtube ads.
    There's no list for blocking youtube stuff, because they have a very intricate system in place designed to counter dns blocking (ie: you either block video sources as well, or you don't block ads).
    I saw a reddit post which suggested a specific method to figure out the right hosts to block, but I have yet to try it

    You can put chrome in "desktop" mode, amd listen to music while chrome is in the background.
    Or just scrape youtube with something like jDownloader, and listen to your misic offline, and without ads. It even has a remote control app....

    The best one is the Oasis ad that says they'll stop advertising if they meet a sales target.
