    How about open-spaced office? That helps lots.

    What I mean is, you could talk to people instead of "chatting" with them.

    @joas I think your idea is the best way. In fact, you can also be distracted if you're so focused coding and then you have a co-worker asking "how's it going?", but wouldn't be as annoying as 4 slack messages at once.

    @jhia Yep, that pretty much summarizes part of my problem with our current office-space plan.

    Open-space offices are good because everyone hears everything that others hear. But that's the problem.

    My take on this is that a development office should be an open system that have closed sub-systems. Sub-system being usually a table group.
