At a meeting:

"We don't know why <past developer, they all know who this motherfucker is> did it this way but we have to..."

Me: *slams table* no, stop. I am tired of this. Y'all must've really liked this guy. But he did it this way because he was a fucking idiot.
A
Fucking
Idiot
There is no other reason for this amount of fuckery that I have to be bothered to fix and mess with on A DAILY BASIS so I am gonna go ahead and call it as it is. The dude was a damn moron and no one here stopped him. I know he was a janitor here that got his cute lil associates and y'all wanted some good will hunting shit to happen, but <said dumbass developer is no matt damon"

Them: "YOU CaNt JusT UsE ThaT lanGUAGE"

"Am i gonna fix this shit?"

"Well......no one else kno...."

Me: "exactly"

Legit man i am sick and tired of this shit. I did not earn a B.S in comp sci. Graduated in the top percentage of my class, am suffering through my MCS to fix php like a fucking moron all day.The rest of my web devs backed me up.

Aaaand btw..no, it is not my job. I am a fucking analyst, i provide data reports, i program said reports, i am tasked with this shit because i used to work for then as a web tech.....got a different position cuz i was tired of it...fuck me right?

Hmmmm... check your comp package. In case it does not cover both jobs, demand comp increase.

@magicMirror its on its way. I mentioned that an increase in salary needs to come if i am expected to work for two departments. Shitty part is if i don't do this then a lot of students get fucked over. I really do care about the students in our institution.

Welcome to Season 3, Episode 7 of "Your Degree Doesn't Matter"
  • 4
@AleCx04 other option is to refuse touching the web thing. "Not my problem" approach.
I'm pretty sure your boss will back you up on this.

@nitwhiz aaaaaand ain't that a motherfucker man lol

@nitwhiz welcome to episode 9889593 of "why i dropped out"
  • 2
@tekashi bro, HR filtered about 34 applications that did not have any sort of degree whatsoever.
Lemme show you this season 2 episode 4 of "Don't let your ass be filtered out, go to school"
  • 2
Places where niggas aint hirin people that dont have a paper are places ion wanna work at
  • 2
@tekashi i mean you can suit yourself :P adding more degrees to my curriculum always guarantees more pay.
  • 3
I know you're ranting, but you sound like an elitist and a completely classist dickhead.
  • 1
@AleCx04 my dude no offense but from what I hear, 34 people don't have your fucked up problem now.

Perspective. You applied as analyst. Of course your degree shows how good you can work with maths and shit because that is taught in universities. I took every course about programming/tech before I dropped out and my grade point average was a straight B (inclusive some D's in maths btw) - but still people had no skill in actual coding (what I do, fulltime, without degree btw), as I had to learn in group projects (which I looked forward too, I like working in groups. But I don't like the absolute idiocy of someone, who had 2.5 years of java experience up to this point, isn't able to write something simple like bubblesort. For me, this is a good representation of how fucking useless this degree actually is when it comes to determinating skill).

Get off your high horse, your degree shows how good your basic skillset is and that you can learn. Not that you perform good in specific topics.

@AleCx04 but bathe in your cozy conservative, HR-proxied company, doing your obviously fucked up job.
  • 2
@nitwhiz lol calm down there superpro. What is it about mentioning degrees that make people get triggered so quickly? Was it that i finished it and you did not? There is not reason to feel inadequate by that since it was not the point of it.
You ate assuming too much from my job. I get a raise practically every time i demand one or do a high level job, the post was about having to fix fucked up scripts from a previously incompetent developer yet you somehow put me in the same level as a low level code monkey.
Yeah. I will cozy myself in my hr proxy bla bla bullshit you just spat. I get retirement benefits and an amazing insurance package, holy shit enterprise sucks!
You can bitch and complain about getting dev jobs without a degree all you want. It ain't my thing, but i can do it, and sadly regardless of howngood you are 9 times out of ten your cv would get kicked to the trash bin before mine because i did finish it.
  • 2
@AleCx04 btw that was going out in general, not aiming at you in particular. Just giving out my sentiment. I am tired of people in the industry acting like if a degree meant only being able to follow rules and shit
  • 3
@AleCx04 it triggers me to read stuff like "you should've finished it". I give you that point, I may have taken it a bit more personal as it actually was meant.

The whole insurance package and everything is pre-paid via my wage (Germany ahoi), so that's no problem for me.

All I have to say is sorry for being a bit bitchy in the first place. Just don't be so elitist about your degree.^^

@smirving not gonna lie. I kinda am.
  • 1
@nitwhiz we cool mean, didn't mean to make it sound like i was a degree elitist or anything like that. Now shut up and kiss me

    I don’t understand one thing.

If he was a moron why he was not promoted to manager position.

I thought it’s always the same. If someone don’t know programming you promote him to ged rid of one problem and introduce other one.

Once you got whole company filled with moron managers key developers change jobs and company becomes zombie company.

Once number of zombie companies pass certain point you have dot com bubble and you can start over from step one.

When people stopped playing this game?
