I'm easily a Digital Oceans fans, though I have heard horror stories, so I might set up a system to do regular backups.

I'm considering migrating my current server to something FreeBSD based, so I can easily do ZFS snapshots, and even code on my machine at home and just send the jail as a snapshot. Like docker, but different.

    But DO has snapshots and backups. They also have an api which allows you to do whatever you want from whatever application you want.

    @olback But DO also has FreeBSD, so this and that is not mutually exclusive, also I plan to use a FreeBSD droplet for production, and test on my FreeBSD at home. Apologies for not being more clear

    @olback Can I download those backups and snapshots? I just want to keep the image for myself, offline.
