PSA: If you work on a project where code review is expected and there is a migrations framework set up for you, and you choose to self-merge/commit directly to master and update the prod database in the console instead of writing migrations, your coworkers hate you and you can eat shit. That is all.

Why did the person have permission to merge to master? And even worse is that he had prod access. Newbies shouldn't have any of that.

@NarkoCat I do longterm agency work and these guys (there were multiple) are direct employees of the client, and my managers have a hard time saying "no" to their manager.

Also, these weren't newbies. They both bill themselves as being senior devs.

@HollowKitty that's just a broken system. Doesn't matter if they call themselves senior, obviously they are not. Noone would do something to prod without the go of the responsible person. They literally broke prod. That's the worst thing to do. Well I guess except deleting all prod data without backup.

@NarkoCat I'm well aware it's a broken system, that's why I'm here! I hate to be the bearer of bad news but most software companies are kind of dysfunctional in one way or another. Like Tolstoy said, happy families are all alike and every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way. ;)
