Brought my mechanical keyboard to work for the first time, I think they're gonna get tired of the constant CLACKA-CLACKA-CLACKA real soon

That's a dick move if it has clicky switches.

@kamen just mx browns, but they make a lot of noise compared to the laptop keyboards all my coworkers use

Way better than for example MX Blue (in terms of sound). Depends on the keyboard really (how it's built, how it's dampened if at all, what the keycaps are and so on), not just the
switches, and also how you type. If you touch lightly, it can be about the same. On a side note, there are mechanical switches that are silent or almost silent; some are found in keyboards from mainstream manufacturers (Cherry MX Silent Red), others are sold by themselves for you to solder them yourself or to insert them in hot-swap sockets (Zealio Zilent).

It's beyond rude that people leave their mic unmuted when they're not talking, during calls. I have a mech with blacks at my desk, but it's not the loudest in the office, so I'm at least good for that.

"Look at me I'm about to piss off my coworkers?!"

Good for you. Glad we don't work in the same office.

Probably bias due to the fact that I like mechanical keyboards, but I've never minded them. And I worked on a team where three people used blues at the same time. Honestly the click clacking of keys is a lot less distracting than the endless office conversations that happen within earshot, so headphones are a must for me even without loud keyboards

Yeah, the sound of any kind of mechanical is comforting to me, not annoying. I would much rather hear that than human speech, which is FAR more common to hear in our office.

@bahua @soggybutter I'll study to videos of ppl typing on mechanical keyboards. Fucking love that sound.

@RantSomeWhere fuckk i wanted a model m so much, I passed on a Spanish layout one for $40 a few years back because they wanted me to take the ps2 tower too... It had missing keycaps but those are replaceable.

A note on the Spanish layout part, I'm from South America and I really don't like to use foreign keyboards, I had a eng keyboard Mac a few years ago and it was a pain. I ordered my mechanical keyboard from wasd because finding non-gamer mech keyboards in the Spanish layout is impossible.
