Apparently some developers are no longer happy with the idea of Stallman working as the head of the FOSS.

I dunno what to think, i have never really liked the man as a person, yet I acknowledge his contributions to the world as a whole. Always disliked attitude towards software that do not fit with his ideals and disliked just how quirky he was.

Yet i also respect wanting to stand up for a deceased colleague that can't defend his name in terms of the accusations made against him. What do y'all think?

    His comments were not only taken out of context but I'd say even deliberately twisted to fit a narrative. The media grabbed that shit and swallowed it whole to generate clicks.

    It is clown world 🤡🌏

    After taking a while to look at the state of things.... I don't know.

    Some quotes appear to have been taken out of context. Other things he's said do seem somewhat questionable.

    @MrCSharp is it?

    I find it hard to be taken out of context from comming from a person known to make strange comments regarding sex.

    The dude's completely strange personality does not help him at all.

    @AleCx04 This link's headline sounds like a call for witch-hunting.

    @AleCx04 it kind of is. That article is the one that sparked everything. But if you like to explore a different perspective take a look at this one:

    Makes sense that the people who are for government intervention in everything to support their agenda are not happy with the founder of a company with the word FREE in the name

    @arcsector absolutely. It's a conspiracy!

    /Sarcasm.

    I read the emails and boy, it's a big fiesta.

    AFAI, no one is making complete sense.

    rms makes some pretty solid points in the emails.

    but he does make a couple of risky points, and the nail in the coffin is the one where he explores the concept of consent from a minor (a very risky thing to do). all in the context of a big fucking mit scandal.

    and the problem with rms, aside this whole fiesta, is that while he was a brilliant and influential leader of the FS community (read up his amazing wikiquotes page https://en.m.wikiquote.org/wiki/...),

    his career is also plagued of needlessly, controversial, divise or just flat out stupid statements or ramblings.

    sometimes even sex or sexist jokes.

    i even heard he was one royal fucking pain in the ass to work with at mit.

    so maybe this controversy was a "one too many" kind of thing.

    maybe he could have been just suspended, but maybe his own people were fucking sick of him, can't really tell

    here's a 2012 talk he was supposed to give in brazil.
    https://youtu.be/jskq3-lpQnE

    the organizers fucked up big time by not dealing with the fact that he doesn't talk portuguese, just english and spanish.

    the problem is how he deals with the situation. instead of expressing some disappointment and leaving, he throws a fucking tantrum, yelling and occasionally banging on the tables.

    it's quite uncomfortable to watch, and at points makes you kind of sad because he actually talks like his whole career is a failure.

    but it also makes you ask yourself. is this the man you want to lead the FS community?

    @jesustricks a trillion times this!! The man has a history if saying weird things, he should have stayed quiet ffs. And i remember that video, he spent way more fucking time bitching about starting over, it would have been better to just stop being a whiny btich and him jusr started over.

    Heavens I hate Richard Stallman
