Yes, this is exactly what we need. Allow big corporations to completely control the internet...

I dunno, it looks like it is a grass roots push for better privacy online. I am wary of the involvement of bigger corps, but who else can be called upon? They have the influence and care about what happens. Nobody trusts them and they are to blame for that. So maybe they see the writing on the wall? I can hope right? I just hope this doesn't lead to some sort of centralized web gov. We don't need that shit.

Just another failed attempt by Berners-Lee. He jumped the shark after his great achievements in the 90s.

@Demolishun I wouldn't be against, but when I see how much power these companies have and most people follows them blindly, I don't think anything good is going to happen. They will most likely just gain even more power.

@lamka02sk they already have it, the monoliths of data already know everyone and everything they do and when or where they'll be before the people know.

That message you just received, it's already been read by a system.

That message you're now typing, has already been analysed before you hit send.

That person to your left, your phone has already assisted in identifying who it is.

We the human race relinquished our selves to the overlords years ago, it's just people are starting to wake up to their mistakes long after any point of return.

We shared our data, our individual profiles and our habits with these companies, for what was sold to the users as "individual insights" what it really was, was for these companies to make more money then almost anyone on the planet could ever dream of having, by selling you, the human to other companies.

Ps: I'm not a privacy tin hat guy, but it is what it is.
You can either embrace you're bad choices and continue to click "login with some social account" or attempt to fight a battle that can't be won.

@C0D4 I agree, but it still doesn't mean we should just give up and give them the past bits for free.

@M1sf3t I had that thought a while back. Something that "does stuff". Like an AI that tracks what you do and does things differently to throw off the Google AI.

I haven't read the 'contract' but I don't think it could hurt much.

I do find it very ironic that some companies who signed it are integrated with worlds biggest illegal and global mass surveillance networks and some don't give a single fuck about user privacy at all.
