It sounds like you have someone who practices management by walking around (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/...). It's not great, and not suitable for this industry, but I also wouldn't sweat it too much, your first job is all about farming CV experience.
As for imp syndrome, I think everyone experiences it a little bit. The easiest way get past it is to find a mentor and make close work friends to exchange ideas with. Outside of that, it's just understanding that the rest of your career also requires constant studying (which is both great and terrible). You'll get to the other side of the curve eventually :)
