Just saw a role advertised for a front end developer. Skills required amongst other things·
· Integrating with middle-tier microservices such as NodeJS

· .NET Core (2.1+), C# 7.0+ and JAVA

· SQL Server, T-SQL, MySQL

· Azure Dev-ops

There are other standard and expected front end requirements but want someone with 4+ years experience

Salary £19,000 - less than two thirds of the national average salary for non UK folks.

Applications: 0

Hmm I wonder why

HR at its best. Companies need to evaluate HR competence as much as their developers' competence. Why the hell do companies hire HR people who have no knowledge of the industry like at all?

They are just assuming whoever is going to apply wont be leaving work place --> No rent, no transportation, no life

    19K/yr for food is enough

Sounds like someone came over from the US expecting their to be a glut of under the table labor

In London this is normal for around a third of shops.

You don't hire people with serious qualifications or experience. Four year requirement is partially spurious but not really.

Plenty of immigrants from India and East Europe will jump at the chance to earn 19K. Also commonly four years experience in shoddy shops might only be worth 1 years experience back here in up to par shops. It's very hard to tell.

You just hire anyone and expect them to learn searching on google.

If they're not fast enough to get results just sack them and hire another.

For immigrants even from east europe, 19K is enough for them to pay off their mortgage faster than they would working at home earning the median or average wage for the same job.

You just hire whoever will take the lowest salary.
