7 months into first job and half my department (so essentially about 10 people) have left. Kinda sucks emotionally especially when you try befriend those people or get close to them like your manager. Genuinely never felt this lost and without guidance as when my manager left...

    Why did they leave?

Most of my jobs have been R&D. I relate to that on a whole different level as managers are absolutely useless, and Leads are no help either.
I'm alooooooone in this woooooorld and there's nobody to heeeelp meeeeeeee. 🎢🎢

On another note, you'll get used to that. It makes you cockier and more critical of other people's work, but also more independent and good at learning/building stuff by yourself.

@asgs change in management at a higher level. Went from a very personal guy who would do code review actually code on projects, to someone who was more customer focused and more stereotypical of the boss that you see of like “I told the users can get your product in 4 weeks even though I know it’ll take 8 weeks minimum”

Hey, look on the bright side - you're now more experienced in your companies internals than at least half the department, despite only being there 7 months. Play it to your advantage, become the guy everyone depends on, and then you're in a great position to ask for a raise.

Damn, sometimes I feel like such a jerk for always seeing the self interest in everything πŸ˜‚
