I work in a fairly small company which provides services to other small companies. So I get to interview freshers and few experienced people who have worked in other service companies.

Most of them choke on the part where they have to solve problems using data structures.

But do they choke when they need to add the correct tag for the week?

What's so bad about data structures? I keep reading up on them and going "oh yeah it's this stuff" and the people talk like they're the bane of junior programmer existence.

Is it just a side effect of being taught on an object oriented language that makes these things make sense?
