Me: "Here is the new feature you asked for. You can select from the dropdown and if it's "Other" you can put the details in the text field next to it"

Them: "I need to add options to the dropdown"

Me: "If you need something added to the dropdown, just let me know and we can get it added, but we need to control that field"

Them: "It won't be necessary to communicate with you to add something to the dropdown"

Me: "Yes. It will be"

@karma Trying to avoid duplicate inputs so we don't end up with something like "Schwab" and "Charles Schwab" as options type thing. The options shouldn't change even annually, so for the use case it doesn't make sense to allow adding free input options

@bebetter I recently had to deal with something similar. One of the list had 467 entries and two guys didn't see any problem with that. They just told us "But I know how to use it". No kidding, you've been here for more than 20 years, twats!

PS: As you can imagine, it was filled with "CCGH", "JULM" and other funny things.
