Imagine studying for a computer related course and to makeup for living expense, you go for part time jobs.

Now, is it just me or this is just a bad idea to get into a part-time job that is no where related to your study field?

It doesn't make sense to work in MacD or some retail outlet at all.

Any thoughts?

Whatever pays your bills. Working in the service industry is viable and respectable.

Source: When I was in school I worked as a bouncer/bartender at a dyke bar, I did guitar tech at a club and I worked the parts counter at a motorcycle shop a friend owned.

@SortOfTested But wouldn't it be much better for a compsci student to do tech job for part-time? It will add as experience I believe.

The reason I'm bringing this up is because one of my friend is studying abroad for compsci course and his / most students part time job in the uni is picking berries at a farm.

If you have the option, sure. But in the absence of that, pay the bills.

there might student jobs at your campus relative to your degree if there's nothing else in your area that you like.

If your job is more interesting than your studies, the studies tend to take longer.
