All I want to do is open 1 fucking port... Why does my router have to make this so fucking difficult!

    Maybe it's just your evil ISP

    @melezorus34 I work for my ISP haha

    @lxmcf note to self, don't get "that" isp 😅 can't even open a fucking port.

    @C0D4 haha well plot twist, my router reserves ports 22456 - 32456 for fucking VOIP despite having the ATA disabled... Well ltaht fucking explains a lot

    @melezorus34 don't understand why it would reserve so many ports though, our router isn't locked and is just an off the shelf, removed all port blocking and gave myself a sticky IP and it just wasn't happy. Unblock port 2300 and then just boom. It's fine... Ffs

    Idk, isps are crazy, some isp in turkey blocks port opening to network with an extra payment.

    @melezorus34 wait what?!

    We just block some potentially high risk ports like standard VOIP and web traffic ports and if you want them unblocked you just ask us?
  • 1
    No, like, even opening 80 or 23356 doesn't matter, people outside your channel can't join if you don't buy the extra

    And then, there is me, working on mobile data bcuz my parents didn't like the idea of me & ∞ internet (but they regret it though)
  • 2
    @melezorus34 yeah that's a tad fucked up

    @lxmcf fucking what? I got to ask to unblock ports??

    TPG just gave me a router and well... 443, 22, 21, actually any port really is not blocked at their end.
  • 1
    @C0D4 they just leave them all unblocked?

    That's a tad sketchy, we only block it to prevent people accidentally just leaving the rouge ripen to the world. The amount of people who have left port 80 unblocked in there router and comparing that someone logged into the router remotely is staggering

    @lxmcf router came with 443,80,22,21, and another port for router updates from the isp open to the wild and remote access management enabled with "admin/admin" as the login details 🤦‍♂️

    The ISPs port I can't block though, the router stops me but everything else is blocked where needed.

    @C0D4 that's a big RIP, is that the Huawei HG659?
  • 2
    @lxmcf nope tp-link AC1600, not factory settings when arrived so didn't expect to have to start blocking things at the firewall that should be standard.

    Mind you it's slow as shit to load any internal pages like it's running a server on an old i386 processor 😟

    @C0D4 oh no, the vr1600v is so bad, if you open the USB settings under advanced and hit F12, you can view the root details in plain text
  • 2
    @lxmcf 👀I can what now?
  • 2
    @C0D4 yepppppppppppppp, such secure
  • 2
    @lxmcf well... maybe I can block this last port after all 😅

    Much secure, such wow, even dodo gave more secure hardware then this lot 🤦‍♂️
  • 1
    @C0D4 the dodo hardware isn't that bad, I haven't run into any equipment they have locked down
  • 1
    @lxmcf dodo's hardware was factory settings last time, tpg with their "plug and play" seemed fair enough until I went snooping around.
  • 1
    @lxmcf thats not root but i see what you mean ☺
  • 1
    @C0D4 well some models have the root details

    Did you try hitting it with a hammer?
