I feel like that's a problem with dark modes in general. The color palette is so restricted that things look crappy and/or uncanny. From a purely aesthetic perspective I prefer "regular" color schemes, except for coding where dark color schemes are definitely superior.

they could/should have just used the true superior nord theme.
