because i am self taught, everything i know is what most of the community knows. rendering me completely not possessing any rare needed expensive skillset

The only way to learn a truly rare skill is to self educate :)

The main thing you get from a degree (in any field really, a self taught developer with a cs degree isn't necessarily better than a self taught developer with a finance degree for certain domains) is a wide foundation

The community is the real source of truth (most of the time).
