My first programming experience was in highschool. Within two months I was a better programmer than my teacher.

This just indicates that the people who hire programming teachers need to know what programming is before hiring the wrong person.

Teaching a subject is not necessarily about mastering it. Teaching requires knowing how to transmit knowledge to other people, which may be quite daunting in a diverse group such as yours. Handling people lagging behind and people sprinting way ahead is tough.
