I started using vscode for flutter yesterday and it’s so smooth! Android studio used to make my Mac so slow! Why didn’t I do this earlier!

Both IDEs have pros and cons, at least in Dart.

VS Code is lightweight, but it lacks in stuff like code completion, has meh refactoring, etc.

IntelliJ is heavier, slower startup, and stuff, but it's much easier to work with afterwards.
