I once ran into a CAPTCHA that was hard coded with a simple math problem. Every time it asked what 5 + 1 is.

But the answer was in base 5? :)

Even if it generates real math problems, a scraper bot could easily find it with DOM and parse it.

Are there any real alternatives to reCAPTCHA out there?

@gnaaah After Google's reCAPTCHA, there's a company named Solve Media which makes acceptable Captchas.

However, I like reCAPTCHA more because it uses solving power to improve Google Map auto-recognition, and also doesn't bother your all the time if you have a valid and verified Gmail account :)
